Attendance Policy

General Attendance Expectations
Attendance will be taken at each class and/or lesson. If a student is unable to attend their private lesson, they must notify IMAGO at least 24 hours in advance of their lesson time. This gives IMAGO time to notify the teacher so that a switch with another student can be arranged, or a make-up lesson scheduled. Without advance notice, missed lessons are considered forfeit.

Make-up Lessons
Students will be allowed two make-up lessons per semester. If 24-hour notice is not given, the teacher is not required to reschedule the lesson. In the event of illness or family emergency that arises the day of your lesson, notify IMAGO as soon as possible (preferably by phone and email). Emergency situations can be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Any lessons missed beyond the two allotted make-up lessons may be given at the teacher’s discretion.

If the teacher needs to miss a lesson day, IMAGO will notify the student as soon as possible. The teacher will be responsible for making up the missed lesson.

Due to the nature of the group class environment, individual absences cannot be made up or rescheduled for any reason. If the teacher will be absent, students will be notified in advance and the class will be made up at no additional cost.

Instruments and Materials

Music students
Students in private and group music lessons need to own or rent a quality instrument. Piano students must have a piano in their home (not just at school). It is crucial to be able to practice daily on the instrument in an environment where distractions can be kept to a minimum. Teachers will inform the student which method books, repertoire books and/or sheet music will be needed. Students are responsible for purchasing these materials.

Art students
Depending on the course, art students may be responsible for obtaining their own art supplies from a list provided by the instructor, or pay a $15 art supply fee for the instructor to provide materials.

Early Withdrawal

Teachers rely on the consistent income they earn from lessons for the year. If extenuating circumstances require that the student discontinue lessons, a two-week written notice to IMAGO is required. The student will be financially responsible for the lessons that occur during those two weeks from the date notice is given, whether or not the student chooses to attend the lessons. If advance payment was made, IMAGO will refund the remainder, with the exception of the registration fee.
