Our Senior Adults have always been an integral and very important part of our church. In addition to the extensive educational activities provided by our Sunday School, other opportunities are provided for fellowship and intellectual and spiritual growth.
Many opportunities for volunteer service are offered to our Senior Adults. Serving on a Yes! Lord team, sorting clothes for the homeless, or working at the 4th Street Cafe are but a few of the many opportunities of service that are tailor-made for our Senior members.
Some of the ministries for Senior Adults include:
- Homebound Bible study class
- Waterford Bible study class
- Senior Adult Visitation Team
- Widows/Widowers Ministry
- Occasional trips for enrichment
- WMU Senior Day
Many of our aging senior adults are alone and lonely. Many are neglected. Poor health and eyesight prevent them from doing things on their own and they must rely upon others for assistance.
Our Senior Adult Visitation Team ministers to the senior adult members of First Baptist Church with a special focus on those who are homebound and unable to attend church services on a regular basis. Volunteers maintain personal contact with homebound seniors through regular visitation, frequent phone calls, and by sending birthday cards and letters to them.

"Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress." James 1:27
