Schantz Pipe Organ

In 1982, Schantz Organ Company installed its Opus 1684, our current Sanctuary pipe organ. With sixty-two ranks and nearly three thousand pipes, the organ can accommodate virtually any genre of music. The organ has three manuals (i.e., keyboards) of 61 notes each. The order of the manuals from bottom to top Choir, Great, and Swell. The full pedal board of 32 notes is concave and radiating. Both the choir and the swell are enclosed. Some music works better with the Great and Choir manuals switched, which can easily be done by use of the well-rounded coupling system.

In 2008, Organist Letha Crouch and Mark Schmeltekopf spearheaded a large renovation project. All 3,000 pipes were brought back to the factory to be cleaned and re-voiced. The presets were digitized and increase from 10 to 990 with 99 memory levels. With the addition of three digital 32-foot stops, the organ can sound a full octave lower.

The Schantz Pipe Organ is now in its third decade and is vitally instrumental in the church’s fine arts offerings, and most especially supporting and inspiring the Sanctuary Choir, the Chapel Singers, and the greater church choir in offering praises to God.
